Solidarity Pastoral Services are a response to the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference plea for support and help in meeting the needs of the church in South Sudan. These services include supporting the formation of clergy, religious and lay people, delivering peace and reconciliation workshops and programs, working with Diocesan pastoral directors and their teams to ensure the delivery of quality pastoral care by the Catholic Church in South Sudan. The National Director of Pastoral Service works with the Solidarity team in this endeavor.
During this time of civil unrest, the pastoral team has facilitated the delivery of trauma healing , reconciliation and peace building workshops for clergy and lay leaders, including Capacitar workshops. Members of Solidarity with other religious and diocesan priests have been able to reach displaced communities to assist them, in the borders or in UN camps.
The pastoral initiative also involves the direct delivery of programs by the members of Riimenze community in support of women and youth. At the same time, the pastoral team supports and encourages the Solidarity communities comprised of men and women from various congregations, to become communities of prayerful solidarity.
