Statement on active nonviolence

The Religious Superiors’ Association of South Sudan (RSASS) released a statement on April 28 on active nonviolence as a way to build lasting peace in South Sudan. In this statement, RSASS acknowledges that South Sudan is entrenched in violence and in a deep economic and humanitarian crisis. Despite this, RSASS encourages the people of South Sudan to remain hopeful and to not turn to violence: “Jesus of Nazareth himself lived in violent times, but his message offers a radically positive approach […] The only weapon Jesus used was love and compassion.”
