Sr. Patricia Murray, ibvm - Executive Director

Sr. Patricia Murray IBVM, is a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loreto Sisters). Sr. Pat has worked as a teacher and school principal, served as Vice Chairperson of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) and was the first Education Development Office of the Loreto Schools Network in Ireland.


Sr. Pat has also worked as Peace Education Officer and Chairperson of the Irish Episcopal Commision for Justice and Peace (ICJP) and has served on the Executive Committee of Trocaire - the Overseas Development Agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland.  While a member of the Loreto General Leadership Team in Rome (1998-2006), Sr. Pat was a member of the delegation that visited Southern Sudan in March 2006 at the request of the Sudanese Bishops' Conference. Mr. Angelo Spadavecchia

Angelo Spadavecchia - Director of Communications

Mr. Angelo Spadavecchia began working with Solidarity with South Sudan as Director of Communications in 2012. His qualifications include a Master's Degree in International Law and International Relations from the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia). Angelo has worked previously in Rome; firstly between 2005-2006 as an Intern with the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and more recently he was employed at the Solidarity and Development Secretariat for the De La Salle Christian Brothers in Rome.

Angelo’s experience in the field of education includes teaching in a remote Aboriginal Community school to working as Director of Mission in a Catholic College in Australia. He has also been involved as the Australian Liaison for Bethlehem University in the Holy Land as well as the Refugee Council of Australia. Angelo will be working with Solidarity with South Sudan to extend its network of friends and supporters worldwide and to widen its communication base. Ms. Anne Carthy - based in England

Ms. Anne Carthy is a professional business development and organisational development manager, with 20+ years experience working in multinational corporate environments in the areas of business strategy, finance, business consulting and general management.  She spent seven years working at country and regional level with IBM before leaving the corporate world to take up management roles in the not for profit area, at international level. She has managed two NGOs in the areas of disability and the workplace, and HIV-AIDs prevention.

Anne most recently worked for the Justice and Peace Commission for the USG/UISG (Unions of Superiors General). Rebecca Wands - Financial Management

Ms. Rebecca Wands completed a degree in Accounting at Bournemouth University (England) in 1997.  Since then she has worked within the financial and accounting departments of both large and small multinational companies in the UK, Holland and in Italy including; Reebok Europe BV / Reebok International LTD; PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Rohde & Schwarz Spa.

Dr. Margrethe Juncker

Dr. Margrethe Juncker - Programme Officer

 Margrethe Juncker has worked as a medical doctor in Africa and Asia for 28 years. Her focus the last 12 years has been working with poor people living with HIV/AIDS (in Cambodia, Uganda and Mozambique). Since mid 2009 she has been living in Rome with her husband who works for World Food Programme and two of her five children. Her heart is still in Africa, so she is very grateful for the opportunity to work with Solidarity with South Sudan in Rome until she can go back and continue her work in Africa.
